Dry? Yes I am, thanks for asking. But are you super dry, like Blackburn’s Special Dry? As dry as a Sahara sunbather, as dry as a Gobi iguana. As dry as JT last February. Now we’re talking dry.
And you can never say we ever (or never) leave a request unattended. * What Scotty C wants, Scotty C gets, ** and his request for more lagers did not go unnoticed or unaddressed.
We enjoyed the last local light from BB, now it’s time for something special. Channeling the Japanese extra dry approach with a light beer, Blackburn’s Super Special Dry Lager may be light on alcohol, but it makes up for it with an abundance of adjectives.
A clear light golden pour with a brief and minimal head that dissipated under the bright lights of the photo shoot. The aroma is malt to a fault. No hops or crisp detected. First taste and it has a great malty flavour, doesn’t present itself as a light, tasty. It isn’t really crisp but it does have a dry aftertaste encouraging one to have another swig, not that much encouragement was required. The malt mellowed and what remained was a very fresh easy drinking lager. This special dry is not really as high and dry as some crisp pils or some Japanese specials, but it is a great flavourful light.
