After some down and dirty double trouble at 8.2% it was time to lighten things up with a 3.8% Local Light from Blackburn. A wise man once said “It is better to pour a light than to curse the darkness”, a quote I found quite illuminating. * The last time I cursed the darkness was the other night when I stubbed my toe on the bed post, a night light may have come in handy. And yes I would have much preferred quaffing a light rather than crackin’ a toe.
Light does travel faster than sound, that’s why politicians often seem bright until they speak. And of course a day without light is, well, night.** Enough light philosophizing. Time to see if last night’s light was alright or quite right.
An amber like pour, always a good sign. A fresh light malt bread aroma. And a great taste with a full malt flavour which was a nice surprise for such a light ABV brew. It starts with a bit of a crisp dry finish and by the third swig it had evolved into a smooth lager finish. No real lager sweet there.
The misses is a once a year beer drinker (Superbowl Sunday) and is partial to a Sleeman’s Clear, bottle only. I know, she’s picky, that’s why she ended up with me. But this Local Light has too much flavour for her delicate disposition. For me, I was in favour of the full flavour. This light lit up my night.
