Last call rings, can you hear? At the bar, for one more beer.
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight, drinking in a Winter Ale wonderland. *
Ever since I first quaffed one of their brews I’ve been an Anderson farm fresh fan. But, and this is a Cardi B size butt, ** Winter Ales have not been my go to, or even my have to. More like my last call brew if nothing else is left. Or if it’s free of course.
There is something about Winter ales that just goes against the grain, and that would be the spices. The genre is not a COMDB favourite to say the least.*** However Bud, the Elf on the Beer Shelf, selected this one as part of our Cranky Old Christmas Countdown. Hopefully Anderson can make it count.
A copper colour pour, an amber in waiting? A fall frost of a head. A caramel aroma with a hint of spices, not at all off-putting, as in it has potential, as in it is promising? Perhaps. First taste is just like it smells, a caramel toffee body with some subtle spices on the finish, cinnamon? Maybe even a touch of a peppery pique to go with the wintery cinnamon stick. What they have brewed is an interesting and quite tasty winter ale concept. An amber like body and a subtle melange of spices.
A cali common kinda craft with wispy wintery Wonderland finish . At 7% it’s a high ABV ale but you would never know it from its smooth disposition.
A super suds winter ale! Sounds like an oxymoron to me or a Ripley’s believe it or not article. But when it comes to Bud, and this beer, I believe.
