The COMDB Translation department tell us that an Eisbӓren is a Polar bear. I’ve seen browns and blacks in the wild (if you want to call my trailer porch or my backyard the wild) but I’ve only ever seen a polar bear doing its sad slow to and fro nowhere to go walk at the zoo. Which brings to mind the age old advice (with a COMDB modifier) about bears. If it’s black fight back, if it’s brown lay down, if it’s white good night, but if it’s a Lake of Bays Bock you’re in luck. *
With a healthy heaping portion of Caramunich and Munich hops, we are either reminiscing or looking forward to Oktoberfest with this festive small batch Bock from the Bay City brewers. Time to bear down and down this bear.
A red ale pour, very clear and ruby rouge. A slim white almost not there head of the polar persuasion. A malt toffee aroma, an ambear? A light bodied mouthfeel, with a malt caramel flavour to savour. Smooth and easy, a classy red. Saints preserve us, it’s a big swiggin’ Bock! The slightly grainy finish left and what remained was an easy drinking smooth amber, and what’s not to love about an amber.
Not as high an ABV as most bocks which may lend itself to it’s drinkability. This could well be a Lake of Bays Oktoberfest fridge stocker, great beer.
