Lots to unravel here. First of all a translation of Brava is in order. The COMDB translation department asked me if I wanted it in French, Spanish, Italian or Hawaiian. Out of curiosity and with no foreseeable deadline on this review I said all of the above. They tell me that in French, Spanish and Hawaiian it means brave. In Italian it means good. However in Spanish slang it can also mean angry, mad or upset which is ironic.
Why ironic you may ask. Because that is exactly what the Lakeport brewery employees were after Labatt (owned by AB InBev) bought them out and closed their Hamilton based brewery leaving 143 people out of work. Despite offers by other groups to buy the brewing facilities Labatt gutted the building, one would assume to prevent competition in the market they just acquired. In 2014 Nickel Brook and Collective Arts revamped the brewery and today Collective Arts brews out of that facility.

Dip of the Day
COMDB food pairing commentary time! Much like a nun, I am a creature of habit.* But tonight I am trying out a new chip dip! And it’s a Helluva Good one. And it is.
Just like that book on procrastination I got from the library, this Brava beer review is overdue. This lager pours a pale golden, clear with bubbles. The head is going, going gone before a pic can be clicked. A smooth malt tease aroma. A nice malty flavour with some fizz for the fresh factor. Just as advertised, it is a very smooth and easy drinking lager. No sweet, no hops, no zing or bite, just a basic good lager. I enjoyed it. A potential beer fridge stocker for us beer fridge stalkers.
