Madoc is famous, or perhaps infamous, as the location of the COMDB AGM (annual golf meeting). The COMDB have contributed significantly to the local economy through the industrious kids who find lost golf balls among the scenic woods and waterways in the area and sell them back to the golf course. The beer bought during the AGM may also have boosted Madoc’s GDP as well. Another Madoc attraction, more famous and far less infamous, is the covered bridge over Deer Creek at the O’Hara Mill Homestead and Conservation Area.
Speaking of Deer Creek, our Madoc based brewer 7/62 has whipped up a Deer Creek Canadian for our pour and score, and hopefully our enjoyment as well.
A light golden clear pour with a healthy head, quite an impressive pour, a lustrous looking lager. Malt with a shy and reclusive apple aroma. It starts out verifying the nose, a solid malt base with a touch of fruit, and a bit of fizz. Fizz remains on second swig but the apple is adios. Now into a full malt, no lager sweet, but some back end bitters. It mellowed into a back to basics malt lager but with just a touch of bitters for a slightly crisp finish. Nice touch.
I may be up the creek at times, but this time I downed one. An easy drinking and refreshing lager, poured, scored and enjoyed.

The 762 Brewery and Tap House is up for sale now as the Owners have decided “to focus on other interest and sell the brewery.”
