Another K-Town Common, this time from Kamloops. Mining and the railroads combine with the scenery in this Southern BC town where everything is extra-ordinary, and nothing is common except this beer. Red Collar has me quaffing a Kamloops Common cold craft while watching three quarters of counterfeit Bills do a fourth quarter cash in to win against the undersized Giants.
The California Common has become a popular genre, modeled on the classic anchor steam beer out of San Fransisco. I expect they are popular because they are close to an amber, and heaven knows I love me an Amber.
Time for my common-tary. This brew is clearly golden, not the typical Cali amber. The head is a touch of white which is quite alright. Lager like in its olfactory impression, mild malt and nothing but. First quaff is a fresh slightly fizzy light caramel malt with a crisp finish. An easy drinker, just like me. Big swig suds. Disappearing faster than a Sahara snow storm. Fizz phased out, leaving a mild malt smoothie. Not as malt forward and flavourful as some Commons, which makes for a light easy drinking anytime brew.
