Contrary to what some may believe, super dope isn’t in reference to our Editor. In modern day slang it means cool, awesome and great and in that context it’s definitely not a reference to our Editor.* What is happening here is that Town is calling this West Coast IPA beer the cat’s pyjamas, the bomb, sick, phat and legit. Brilliant, ace, cracking and hunky dory.
The answer to Shakespeare’s age-old question “what’s in a name?” seems fairly obvious. A number of letters with the occasional hyphen. But perhaps that way back bard is implying a deeper meaning? Who knows? What I do know is that whether a beer has a game name, a tame name, the same name, or a lame name, it doesn’t matter. The name is only tin deep, it’s what’s inside that counts. As far as this brew goes, I hope it’s dope, maybe even super dope, one can hope.
.A pour to adore, golden hazy with a full foamy bright white head. Brilliant. The aroma offers up a perfect balance hops and citrus stone fruit, it smells legit. A taste of easy citrus tropical fruit morphs into hops and bitters with a pine bough bitter crisp finish and bitters on the aftertaste, a phat finish for sure. The bitters ruled the roost early but it’s evolution to a balanced fruit hops bitters brew is aces. A great West Coast IPA, some, including me, may go so far as to call this super.
This Town going down has been very aptly named, it is not just dope, it’s Super Dope.
