A coast-to-coast toast to the host with the most. Happy Drink Beer Day Canada! I did notice that it is not drink a beer day. Are they are suggesting that a two for one would be more fun than one and done? Or am I just overthinking my drinking? On this auspicious occasion I thought a Nation’s Capital craft quaff would be fitting, in my glass that is.
A velocipede is not a speedy version of one of those creepy crawly centipedes, or a millipede which I believe was a centipede before post COVID inflation. According to Bicycle Brewers, and who would know better, it is the name of the original bicycle. This is not our first bicycle obsessed brew. We got on our bikes and rode in the Breakaway with Fixed Gear. Amsterdam peddled bonus beer with their Dutch style 3 Speed. And from that same brewery we learned that Boneshaker is not a nickname for a male stripper* but is in fact a velocipede as well.
By the way, I hadn’t been on a bike without a V-twin engine for quite some time, but I rode one the other day with the grandkids and let me tell you, I don’t know where the expression “just like riding a bicycle” came from, but it wasn’t.
Time for a Drink Beer Day beer review. This one pours hazy dark orange and is gearing up with a frosty bright white head. Is the aroma juicy, citrusy, tropical, hoppy? Turns out it’s all of the above. ** A thin mouthfeel, some bubbles in the mild tropical citrus body with a grapefruit hoppy finish. All mild, it is easy drinking and refreshing. A nice light tasty IPA.
