Drinking In the Moon Light

Moon Light

Whitewater Brewing Co.

5.5% Alcohol

It was certainly a moon lit night last night, in more ways than one. A wolf howlin’ tom cat prowlin’ kind of moon that makes you wonder if you left the outside lights on. But I wasn’t just drinking in the moon light, I was drinking one too. As in a Whitewater adventure series Moon Light chocolate stout.

A moonlight lit night.over a Boneyard Bay

We had a Whites in Night Satin kinda night over Boneyard Bay, and some Fat Dog fog on a moonlight night too.  Ah, but the Bard knew best when he said “The moon’s an arrant thief and her pale fire she snatches from the sun.”  I’m not sure exactly what that means but it always makes me feel a little bit smarter when I quote Shakespeare. *

An entrancing pour of black and tan. A sweet treat of an aroma to it, lotsa cocoa in this one. The taste is a very smooth light roast malt, with mild cocoa and a touch of coffee, surprisingly smooth for a non nitro. No bitters at all, a finish as smooth as a Mulberry silk.** A consistent and well balanced cocoa craft.   It took a big swig to reveal a touch of backend espresso bitters, despite the IBU 40 I didn’t detect any hops or bitterness.

A easy drinking tasty chocolate stout, as smooth as a Van Morisson moonlight pick up line.***

*Editor’s Comment: Whether Shakespeare knew it at the time or whether he was just waxing poetically, he was actually right. The moon generates no light of its own, moonlight is actually reflected sunlight.

*Reviewer’s Comment: So, is moonlight just recycled sunlight?

*Editor’s Comment: Feeling smarter and being smarter are two very different things, as is witnessed from your last question, and inferred in the COMDB Guide to Getting Smarter.

**Editor’s Comment: Mulberry silk is recognized as the best quality silk. Aptly named, it is produced from silk worms that feed on the leaves of Mulberry trees.

***Editor’s Comment:  “One more moondance with you, In the moonlight, On a magic night. Can I just have one more dance with you, my love?” From the 1970 song by Van Morrison “Moondance”.
