My tour of the East Coast wouldn’t be complete without visiting my favourite East Coast town, Bathurst New Brunswick, the home of Four Rivers Brewery. I have fond memories of Bathurst, meeting great people there. Shout out to Robert and Tracy, and those morning mimosas on the golf course. Bathurst has a proud history of mining and hockey*. Four Rivers tell us that they were inspired by… you guessed it, the four rivers that
converge in the Bathurst Harbour.**
Having just recovered from a New Brunswick Charlie Horse I was keen to try out this Hazy IPA which was a beer of the month club selection. They called it Hazy IPA. Beer of the Month Club described it as Four Rivers take on a New England IPA.
A golden fairly clear (not hazy) pour with lots of bubbles. Those bubbles seem to be feeding a fulsome marshmallow head which is growing. A nice fruit and hop aroma, piquing my thirst. First quaff is fizzy with tropical fruit, no zing, smooth finish very tasty. The foam is a slow settler. Not really a fizzy fizz, more of a faded fruit front fizz but no hops or zing makes for a mellow finale. It checks every box for a Session IPA, low ABV for an IPA, mild fruit, definitely not juicy or hazy.
Shakespeare told us “Don’t let the name fool you”.*** The only thing hazy about this brew is the reviewer. This is a nice mellow refreshing Session IPA.

Thanks for the shout out to this beautiful piece of the Maritimes.
You should also try their Mulligan which is a big seller at our Gowan Brae golf course.
Keep up putting the spotlight on various areas of this great country.
