For me the phrase easy rider brings to mind two Hopper choppers crossing 1960’s America in search of freedom with Born to be Wild playing in the background. Spoiler alert! Unfortunately, Billy and Wyatt’s search ends in their untimely demise when they come upon a pickup truck full of rednecks and shotguns, a dangerous combination at the best of times. *
Fernwood has a different kind of easy rider in mind, a riding lawnmower complete with a cooler for the handyman who likes to have his beer handy. The warning on the can reads “please cut your lawn responsibly”.
Perhaps the warning on the can should have been “put on safety glasses before opening this beer” because it was a bit of a foam fest. A pop and slop with a head that wouldn’t stop. Which was somewhat irritating as I had just come in from some chainsaw landscaping and was in dire need of some adult refreshment. “It is what it is” the modern day Stoic said, and I waited for the tide to subside.
The aroma is a bit of juice and a bit more hops, all light but definitely there in waiting. First taste is light citrus tropical with a mild hoppy fizz, well balanced, definitely a light. As in a session IPA. Easy is an apt moniker. Definitely big swiggable, in fact multiple big swigs were in order for this crushable craft. It has pretty good juice for such a lite IPA.
It is what it is, and what it is is a tasty light IPA that hit the spot.
