The Atherley Arms circa 1990’s. I think that red car is the Editor’s, spending another afternoon at the “ballet”.
Atherley, with the famous swing bridge, the infamous Atherley Arms and fortunes won (and lost) at nearby Casino Rama. Along with the natural beauties of the scenic meeting place of Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching, some may say there were natural beauties at the Atherley Arms back in the day as well. One could even say the patrons were up in Arms.* Fame and infamy, fortunes good and bad, it’s all there. Perhaps this Atherley Ale will add good taste to the list. One can hope.
Pale Ales can be all over the board when it comes to flavour profiles, and ratings. This one is an English style Pale Ale from the Couchiching Brewers.
A ruddy amber pour with a bright white head, a dapper duo. An aroma of mainly malt, with a mild floral flourish. As the aroma would suggest, the taste is a malty ale, with hints of floral and apple. It has a full almost creamy mouthfeel. The malt has a mild lager sweet to it. Malt forward, the rest is subtle and strikes a nice balance.
