Willibald is going full tilt on this double. As in all in, or all out, or all or nothing. Pedal to the metal, no holds barred, go hard or go home, tooth and nail, full steam ahead. Head down, cranked up and on the level. Of course, context is important, full tilt is bad news if you’re playing pinball, and good news if you’re listening to Janis Joplin.*

Janis Joplin going Full Tilt
Certainly the term applies to the great game of ice hockey and we all know you don’t lace ‘em up if you can’t take a hit.** So will this full tilt be to the hilt super suds or too much brew? Without further adieu, here’s the review.
I full tilted the can into my glass and a super hazy OJ pour appeared, with a full steam of head. A juicy aroma of citrus with hops to spare, so far so good. The first taste is a double juicer with hops and bitters all in one, with a bit of a malt funk to boot. Busy and tasty and despite the high ABV not at all boozy. It has a soft mouthfeel with a mild tang burn aftertaste which works well. About as smooth as you’ll get for a double, very accessible, it’s actually big swiggable.
A classic, dare I say excellent double IPA. I dare, in fact I double dare.
