Another art appreciation session from the fine folks at CA.  So what’s new? Well, were sampling a new IPA, New England style, with hops from New Zealand. So it turns out there’s lots new about this brew.

A thick as a brick pour, carbonated extra pulp OJ style. No discernible head, or any other prominent features. Some serious tropical citrus on the nose, I anticipate some funk in the trunk. Sure enough, it’s pure OJ to hoppy bitters with a bit of a boozy finish. With some other fruits mixing with the OJ it’s as funky as James Brown, Rick James, and the James Gang all rolled into one. * And that’s plenty funky.  Maybe too many Jammeses? Maybe.  A strong finish, this is a single doubling as a double.

I enjoyed the mix but perhaps you need an extra large trunk for all that funk.

*Editor’s Comment: James Brown’s Funky Drummer (1970). James Gang’s Funk #48 and Funk #49 (1970). Rick James’s Below the Funk (1981)

Final Rating: A Funkadelic 14 out of 20
