Pills Mafia

Thin Man Brewery

4.9% Alcohol

My Editor warned me about reviewing this one, take it easy on the Mafia he said. He didn’t realize that Thin Man is based in Buffalo NY and Pills Mafia is a tailgate tip of the tankard to the Bills Mafia, the hardcore Buffalo Bills football fan base. I’ve been a Dallas fan since Staubach’s rookie season, but my loyalty is wavering and I think that these days the Bills are the new “America’s team”, as long as Josh Allen doesn’t start doing Head & Shoulders commercials.* Go Bills!

This isn’t our first Nick and Nora** adventure. We previously convened the COMDB jury for Thin Man’s Trial by Muskrat and sentenced it to super suds status. Time to park the pickup and partake in a pre-game punt and pour of this Pills of a pilsner.

Ice cold and nice to hold, my pils glass was a perfect fit for this sporty shorty. A golden clear beer, with a slim trim head. The aroma is mild malt with a touch of fruit. The taste is “la meme chose”*** as on the nose. Malt fruit with a crisp finish, smooth, no bitters. Crisp and clean, smooth as an Allen to Shakir option play with a finish as satisfying as an untouched Cook end zone run.

Did someone mention tailgate party? Because this beer was made for that. Solid, easy drinking and a nice finishing pils. Go Pills Go!

*Editor’s Comment: A reference to Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the terrible commercials he does for Head & Shoulders shampoo. You’re make $45M a year Mahomes, do you really need H&S money? Have a little pride man.

**Editor’s Comment: “The Thin Man” is the first of a series of crime noir novels authored by Dashiell Hammet. The main characters in the novels are Nick and Nora Charles. The thin man is actually the missing inventor Charles Wynant. Hammet is recognized as one of the creators of the hard-boiled detective crime noir genre. A number of Thin Man movies were made over the years based on the books.

***COMDB Translation Department: “La meme chose” in French is the same thing as “the same thing” in English.
