This Session IPA was reviewed by our most prolific Cranky reviewer RS. That shouldn’t come as surprise as RS has like a 1000 reviews to his credit. No seriously, he is closing in on 1000 and shows no sign of slowing down! So of course he has tried the Hail Mary from Brimstone Brewing and gave it high praise as well. You can check out RS’s review from last July here.
I have to confess to a little nervousness at the prospect of a beer called the “Hail Mary”. It sounds like maybe the brew master was going for an award winning brew in some kind of unconventional, possibly risky way? I know in sports when there is a Hail Mary play – the outcome is usually unpredictable. So these thoughts are running around my noggin as I’m pouring into my glass and I’m wondering what aspect of this brew exactly is the “Hail Mary” part? Well the beer looks great in the glass and the first taste is exceptional. You don’t often get this much flavour from a Session, but they have nailed the big flavour profile with a surprising amount of bitterness on top of a great citrus taste. If you’re a fan of full flavour IPA, but are looking for a little less alcohol, then this brew is made for you.
I know RS liked this beer last July and I am also a huge fan.
