Another toast to the coast with the most. No Vancouver, we aren’t talking about you, not everything is about you, you know. We’re talking the Rock. No Dwayne Johnson, we aren’t talking about you, not everything is about you, you know. The Rock as in Newfoundland, and one of our favourite East Coasters, Port Rexton.
This brew is a collaboration with St. Michael’s Printshop to celebrate their 50th anniversary, that’s a lot of ink under the bridge. Back in 74 McCartney and his band were on the run, and Linda Blair had heads turning in The Exorcist.* It is quite possible that car insurance rates rose dramatically that year as a few of the COM were taking the wheel legally for the first time.**
This golden ale, appropriately but not creatively, called Golden Ale, is in dire need of a COMDB beer naming party. Fridge fresh, my glass chilled and filled. You wouldn’t be surprised to hear that it pours a bright golden hue, minimal head, maximum goldenness. Malt and bread aroma, a golden loaf of fresh baked brewski. The taste is smooth malt golden goodness with mildly crisp ale middle and end. A very easy drinking ale with a smooth mouthfeel. Basically, it’s back to basic beer of the good and tasty ilk. Beer flavoured beer as ol’ JT would say, and golden for sure.
The Rock delivers once again with a great golden.
