In 1955 Goldie Wilson was sweeping the floor at Lou’s Diner and telling George “one day I’m going to be someone important” to which Marty replies “You’re going to be Mayor of Hill Valley”. Goldie thinks that’s a good idea and sure enough, 30 years later it’s Back to the Future and Goldie Wilson is Mayor. Of course, way back in 1955 politics was a noble profession, something to aspire to. Today I wonder.
But we aren’t pining about the Twin Pines Mall becoming the Lone Pine Mall today, we’re out to see if Lightcaster’s Goldie gets our vote.
This brew is aptly named, a golden pour for sure, with a bright white head. It’s already ahead in the polls. A malty aroma. First taste is malty lager sweet with a bit of fizz and a smooth dry finish with some minor malt aftertaste. A solid tasty full bodied Kolsch. A consistent solid maltster, fizz faded but the rest of the tasting remains intact. Malty and full flavoured for a low, bordering on light, ABV. Very nice.
After a sobering dregs experience (a crappy carpenter)* I was up for something full flavoured and satisfying and Lightcaster delivers in spades. **
Editor’s Comment: References abound for the 1985 hit movie “Back to the Future”. Canadian actor Michael J. Fox was already a TV star as the lead in the show “Family Ties”. His role as Marty McFly in the movie propelled him to big screen stardom.
