Greetings from the Island, Wish You Were Beer

Islander Lager

Vancouver Island Brewing Co.

5% Alcohol

Showtime! Jerrod’s Top 5, Rory’s winners and losers and the COMDB secrets to success. The Crownsmen pack more into a one hour show than anyone else could pack into a half hour show! And in what can only be described as the most uplifting part of the show, Jerrod told us about the biggest cranes in the world. Big Carl had him doing some advanced mathematics. * Rory returned from his “rehabilitation” vacation to give us the lowdown on Cheniere Energy, his big winner with a 51.1 Billion USD market cap, and a buy rating. ** The COMDB secret to success of the day is that contrary to popular belief, there are some stupid questions.

And of course there was a beer review. Greetings from the Island, as in Vancouver Island Brewing. Their Islander Lager had us Orca ogling and totem pole toting. A headless pour of golden clear beer. The traditional malt aroma. First taste is sweet malt, interesting. Typically the lager sweet follows a malt body but this one is all in for the win. A very easy drinking lager. Too easy drinking according to Jerrod, who exercised his star power with a Diva demand of having at least two of any beer we sample on future shows. Rory gave it the highest possible score available, which isn’t surprising for his first beer after rehab.

Very easy drinking, a bit sweeter than a typical lager made it about as unique as lagers get these days, the result being an enjoyable quaff.

*Editor’s Comment: Big Carl, the largest crane in the world, can lift 5,000 metric tons, or according to Jerrod, 2,040 Ford F150 pickup trucks.

**Editor’s Comment: The loser in the Cheniere Energy story is its co- founder Charif Souki. He started the company in 1996, survived its ups and downs, and eventually it grew exponentially. In 2015 he was ousted from his position as CEO by an activist board led by Carl Icahn. Souki subsequently co-founded Tellurian, another LNG player although less successful than Cheniere, and in 2023 he was ousted from that company as well.
