Every hour we have a beer in our hand is a happy hour for us COM. But when a few of us can get together at Northern Maverick for a brew, during their happy hour, that’s a bonus.
In the little apple for the big ball game. It was a defensive battle with some impressive infield plays. The first time I’ve seen a one strike, two ball, pitch. As in a ball in the cup, and we ain’t talking golf. After that foul ball the poor catcher was helped off the field to recover from that stinging dinger, a play I don’t expect to be on the highlight reel. Fast forward to bottom of the ninth, a 1 to 1 tie, two out, two strikes, and Captain Kirk sends one into the outfield bleachers for a walk off homer, off former teammate Romano no less. And done in time to see the Oilers win in OT. Talk about happy hour!
Northern Maverick’s Vito Pils was a golden bright clear pour with a proper topper. An aroma of citrus and brisk, a pale ale kind of fresh going on. The taste is mild citrus tropical with a crisp and bitter finish, almost acerbic but not quite. Very refreshing. An easy drinking fruit body with a wake me up sharp finish. Elements of a classic Italian pils but at the same time some unique features as well. A crafty craft brewed by someone that knows their craft, and their crafts. Another NM super suds highlight reel worthy performance.
*Editor’s Comment: Alejandro Kirk is a catcher with the Toronto Blue Jays. Jordan Romano was a closer for the Blue Jays but was traded to the Phillies.
