This beer is mined, get your own.
This review is a big ol’ chocolate milk stout shout out and a tip of the tankard to MT and the good folks at Mine Connect for the donation of this fine stein to the cranky old cause. The miners tell us that 18 elements from the periodic table go into the brewing of every pint that I quaff. If that’s the case I’m pretty sure my diet is not mineral deficient.
This isn’t exactly a Sudbury Saturday night special because I’m planning on a one and done with this Montreal milk stout from Microbrasserie Trois Lacs. The brew name THAT’S IT THAT’STOUT is a double bonus for me. Not only do I not have to call in the COMDB Translation Department, but I also know that our egghead Editor will be a frantic pedantic trying to figure out the punctuation, the pronunciation and the enunciation of this apostrophe laden moniker. *
A dark pour, as black as an unlit dead-end drift at 3,000 level. Devoid of any of the usual brew pour encumbrances, like head. A sweet stout aroma, loco cocoa with a vanilla chaser on the nose. The first taste is a super sweet cocoa stout with a touch of unsweetened chocolate backend bitters. A nice full mouthfeel, not nitro creamy but not watery either. A full roasted malt cocoa vanilla body, caffeine free, with a cocoa dry finish. Desert stout sweet. Not cloying or over the top, but not far off. Too sweet to be a big swigger but it is a sweet sipping taste treat.
For those that like their sweets, THAT’S IT THAT’STOUT is a milk stout brew for you.
