The Crownsmen thirsty Thursday crowd decided to do a why not Wednesday show, and who am I to say no. Although come to think of it I did say no a number of times on the previous show. In business when you hear “no” it often means “not now”, but when I say it on the show, contrary to Rory’s understanding, no means no.
And another fascinating show it was, with Jerrod’s top 5 list of something I can’t recall, although I do recall most of them were in China. And the revelations didn’t stop there! We also learned that Devon is a Trailer Park Boys fan. I’m not quite sure why that didn’t surprise me.

Keeps pests away.
Which is a somewhat awkward but at the same time feasible segue into our beer of the day, which was a tip of the tankard to those self-same Trailer Park Boys and one of their favourite expressions, Frig Off. Nine Locks Brewing out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where the TPB show is filmed, also produces Get The Hell Out Stout, * another well worn expression from Ricky, Randy and Bubbles.
After a West Coast mystery beer on our last show, there is no mystery involved with this East Coast IPA, with a high tide 6.7% ABV. My pour was picture perfect, while Jerrod struggled with some of the basic concepts of fluid dynamics and a variety of other engineering-terms as well.
A hazy light orange pour with a healthy heaping bright white head. A citrus tropical aroma with some hops in there too. The taste is a full mouthfeel, citrus tropical fruit and hops in combination not sequence. Not really bitter, the oats/malt seem to mellow the hops a bit. It all comes together as a well balanced and strong NEIPA. A strong single, not far off a double, not quite a Frig Frig Off. I avoided operating heavy machinery for a few hours after drinking this beer. **
According to Nine Locks, and I quote: “A day without beer is……just kidding. I have no idea”. But it was just another day at the trailer park for the Crownsmen, and the team gave this brew six thumbs up, which propelled it to super suds stardom.
*Editor’s Comment: Get The Hell Out Stout was the highest score out of 22 different beers sampled at the COMDB 2nd AGM (Annual Golf Meeting).
**Editor’s Comment: You avoid work of any kind before, during and after drinking a beer.
