5 o’clock is a recent memory, time to tie one on. As in tie on the feedbag of course. Perhaps a pint as well. You know it. A tisket, a tasket,* a brisket in a basket. I brace myself for a Bracebridge Lake of Bays Barrelhouse beef brisket in a basket on a bun. Beefy for sure, a vegetarian’s nightmare. With a happy hearty and healthy selection of on tap temptations, I opt for a nitro cream ale. Not a stout, a Kilkenny style creamy cream ale on tap, sans widget, what a novel idea.
Torreto, sounds Italian, or a character from Fast and Furious*. The COMDB translation department went to work but couldn’t come to a consensus on whether it meant a little bull, or a small turret on a tower, or a warrior god. The debate rages on, but we have no time for such trivialities, we have a beer to review.
A pour of stout like proportions, creamy head but a clear and present body that’s no danger.*** A nice light malt aroma through the nitro head. A creamy mouth feel, light malt and bitters in balance, but it really is the nitro driven mouthfeel that stands out. The creamiest cream ale yet. It is a true ale, the bitters aren’t afraid to make a stand. Creamy but not really smooth as malt and bitters blend and bend but never break. As it warmed the bitters mellowed for a nice mellow cream craft draft. Less bitters is even better as a mild creamy malt emerges. Did I mention it’s creamy? Well, it is.
Fast and friendly service even though they were busy. Great meal and an enjoyable nitro cream stout ale. Well done LofB.
