When you are young you are consumed by wanderlust. Then you start to settle down and wander less. The next stage is wanderlost, our topic today and a fitting one for a cranky old man. When the GPS is acting up I’ll be damned if I am going to ask a stranger for directions. And when all is said and done it’s wander last, a sobering thought, and there is really no place for sobering thoughts on this website. Here I am philosophizing like a Flying Monkey, the product of a wandering mind, I guess……
Speaking of sobering thoughts, JT tells me that since it is the first of the month he is thinking about participating in Dry February. I told him I would join him but I haven’t decided yet on what day of the month I would go dry.
I did find myself dry last night and decided to remedy the situation with a sour. I always approach sours with a combination of apprehension and curiosity. This Side Launch dark fruit sour had visions of sugar plums dancing in my head. It poured a bright Rudolph (the reindeer not the dancer) nose red, as bright as a Red Fox beet brew. An aroma of cherry sour tang had me wondering whether I had tapped into cherries jubilee or cherry cough syrup. It tastes slightly sour, not sweet, with a fruit punch body of cherries and berries, and a slightly sour tangy finish. It’s good, a bit of a pucker up but nothing that I can’t handle. They have the sour, the tang, the fizz, and the dark fruit all in moderation so the combination works for a mild high ABV “imperial” sour.
