Not To Worry

Don't Worry Be Hoppy

Brock Street Brewing Co.

5.1% Alcohol

Should I be worried that I don’t worry enough? According to Bobby Ferrin and Alfred E. Neuman life is too short to worry away the day.* Brock Street Brewing seems to espouse the same philosophy with their Don’t Worry Be Hoppy. At first, I thought this brew was an IPA and even got out my IPA glass. But I followed our illustrious (or is that lusterless) Editor’s advice and read the fine print. Dry hopped pilsner!  A Pils in IPA clothing. No worries.

Another reason not to worry is this brew is from the self-proclaimed “most refreshing street in Canada”. We have had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of a number of tasty Brock brews.

A golden clear pint, a proper Pils pour. Not enough froth to blow off but enough to notice. Sure smells hoppy, It’s still carrying on this IPA masquerade. The taste is definitely hoppy, very dry and very crisp pilsner. A nice clean malt body with a hopped up ending, it’s a crispy critter.  A juxtaposed easy drinking body with the crisp pucker up finish. Drier than a desert sand dune in a dust storm, but not bitter about it.  I really like what they’ve done here, taking a dry hopped pils as far as it can go but not crossing the line.

Unique pilsner and a great beer. I told you I wasn’t worried.

*Editor’s Comment: Bobby Ferrin’s 1988 hit song “Don’t Worry Be Happy” was the first a cappella song to reach number one on the Billboard charts and won the 1989 Grammy for song of the year. Alfred E. Neuman, cover boy of Mad magazine, had the grammatically questionable philosophy of ”What, Me Worry?”.
