The night before our wedding I tied one on. The next day, in tux and tie, I tied the knot while my father-in-law looked on, fit to be tied, I think he referred to me as a knot head. Advice to soon to be weds, don’t go out with future cranky old men after the rehearsal dinner. TMI as Farmer Steve would say.
Despite the shaky start the knot was tied well and is still intact after 40 years. Strong as a Dara knot you might say, if you were segueing into a review of a beer named Dara.* The Celtic Dara Knot is a symbol of inner strength and endurance, and I assure you that you need both to hang in there for 40 years plus.**
Ready or knot, it’s time to sample another hard working brew from Muddy York. As black as a Blackberry screen these days. A classic roast and cocoa aroma, enough cocoa on the nose to masquerade as a chocolate stout. It has a classic roast stout taste and a flat slightly dry finish and aftertaste. The cocoa and coffee combine for almost a touch of dark berry? It is dry, smooth and an easy peasy quaff.
We are on a super suds streak this week and this brew is no exception, hence exceptional. A classic dry Irish stout, great balance, smooth and easy.
