Are they a midtown K-Town brewer or downtown hog town brewer?* When we first sampled their Hazy Maitland I thought Something in the Water was Kingston based but they say they hail from the little apple’s Liberty Village. And yet Pakenham and Perth provide the malt and hops,** closer to Kingston I would say. The missus tells me I’m easily confused, or was that the Editor? Or maybe it was a comment about my memory? I can’t recall. My hearing is no roar in hell either. Where was I? Oh yea, Kingston and Toronto.
SITW tell us that this brew is good for anytime you want a “beer flavoured beer”.*** Well, I’ve sampled a lot of flavoured beers over the years, but this is a new one on me. What I do know is that this brew has something and them some. At 568mls there is some bonus beer involved here, which is always greatly appreciated when you’re a one and done kinda guy.
Golden clear beer, maybe due to that unique beer flavouring. Some fresh farm field foam to go with a fresh malt and a touch of crop fruit in the aroma. The first taste is a refreshing malt body with a big crisp very dry finish. Not hoppy or bitter, just crisp. Easy drinking with a capital E and D. Time to busta rhyme.
This farm to glass is goin’ down fast, it needs the 20% more to make it last.
Big swigs seemed somehow necessary taking into account the quantity of the task at hand. The sharp crisp smoothed a bit but stayed the course. Great malt with a crisp finish, a classic pilsner. I think it’s that “beer” flavouring that makes it special.
