Not just easy and not just wicked, its wicked easy dude, because according to Sam Adams easy drinking wasn’t good enough for him. And not Wicked Awesome, but Wicked Easy. And we all know there is no rest for the wicked**, or beer reviewers for that matter. The word wicked literally means “evil” but in modern slang it can also mean awesome or excellent which we must assume they are going for in this case.
The Boston Beer Company is a large publicly listed company (2021 Revenue of $2.2 Billion USD) with a number of “craft” beer brands including Samuel Adams. Once again, the question arises as to whether this is a craft brew, or a “crafty” brew in a wicked (meaning evil or excellent, take your pick) masquerade of one.
This brew pours light golden with a bright white head on the brink of my glass. A little hazy with a mild hoppy lemony aroma. Tastes of lemon citrus only with more fruit than hops, but both very mild. It is easy drinking to a fault. This is definitely not like any lager I have tried before, much more like a Session IPA Lite. A touch of fizz on the finish to start with, but now the fizz is gone. Very mild lemon only fruit, but a little zing would be a welcome thing.
Very easy, very light, initially refreshing but the very mild lemon flavour got a bit tiring. There should have been a citrus mix to make it interesting and should be a little more pronounced with at least one hop in there.
