On the Vegas strip and it’s as hot as a walk on the sun. Time to blow off some froth and chill with a cool craft. Beer Park sounded like a sun stroke sanctuary,* a place that might have what I’m looking for. After climbing up a set of stairs with a handrail too hot to handle, I’m in dire need of some suds and shade. I’m not sure if the rooftop seat in the sun I was assigned was purgatory for some past sins, but after about 15 seconds being 40 feet closer to the sun than I was a few minutes earlier I headed indoors for some AC.
There was a reasonable selection of beers, many of the usual suspects, but not very many local libations on tap. Blonde NV seemed to fit my buy local procurement policy. From Revision Brewing out of Sparks, Nevada. I’m not sure what policy revisions their revisionism promotes, prohibition perhaps? Perhaps.
Beer me blonde with a golden sunbeam pour, busy bubbles feeding a foamy fresco. A creamy malt nose. The first tastes is creamy middlin’ malt, not hoppy, bitter or sweet. Just malty with a slight fizz on the aftertaste. It boiled and bubbled fast and furious start to finish. An easy drinking, comfortable and crushable quaff. A full mouthfeel, creamy, it doesn’t really evolve but stays consistent and maintains that touch of fizz. A big thirst induced swig introduces a very mild ale bitter finish. Smooth is one word that comes to mind; smooth and refreshing; no smooth, creamy, and refreshing. Ok I guess three words come to mind. How about four words, good solid pub ale.
