Something in the Water got the name for this beer from Hulvey’s song “Poor Party”. Hulvey tells us that “all my life I wanted to be rich” but The Beatles warned us that no matter how rich you are you can’t buy love. Halsey (no relation to Hulvey) laments that if she can’t have love, she wants power. * That chain of lyrical logic may make sense to me alone, but here at COMDB we have the inside scoop on this beer’s name. The brewer’s name is Rich! Now that’s rich.
Maybe you can’t buy happiness, but some cash came in handy for me the other day when I visited the Kingston SITW and procured a tasty Tuesday taco (#7 Alabama Chicken) ** and a glass of all my life I wanted to be rich on tap. The great service and that fine lunch certainly made me happy.
SITW’s hoppiest IPA to date looked hazy, hoppy, heady and ready at the bar, a description that has applied to me at times. A super juicy aroma, watery with a touch of hops on the nose. It has a pillowy mouthfeel and the taste is very tropical juicy with hoppy bitters in the mix rather than in tandem. This one has an intensity to it, a shake you awake and smell the hops attitude. *** And I like it. A very juicy but not really boozy almost double that wakes up the senses like Too Much Coffee Man’s extra potent espresso mix. This hop saturated ale is too intense to be a big swigger, but what it is is a happy hoppy treat. Well done, Rich.

Halsey’s 2021 album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” was her fourth studio album and was preceded by a movie of the same name that featured its music.
