Back in the day I hit the hill a few times in my Levis, but yesterday if I was jean skiing I would have froze my rivets off. But there was an idiot out there on the hill in his shorts, a snow boarder so perhaps that explains it. I figured he was the middle child in a family of 9 kids and craving the all the attention he was denied growing up. He only skied a couple of runs and then went in for de-icing before he took off.
The physical damage from the first outing of the ski season, coupled with the emotional damage* of the price tag, left me in dire need of adult hydration. After an enjoyable foray into the Refined Fool Summer Beer League I thought it was time to give their Winter Beer League a sporting chance. Enter Jean Skier, an American Style IPA and aptly named for my après ski aperitif.
A peachy dark golden pour, no puree blizzard or mountain haze, but no seeing through this one either. ½” of new ungroomed powder on top of the hill. A very tropical juicy aroma with some mild hops on the nose in the background. The taste is definitely tropical but not as aggressive as the aroma. It has a mild bitter finish, a great fruit hop combo. It is watery which makes for easy drinking, that’s an American IPA for you. The fruit and hops are both like my skiing, tame but not lame. Unlike my skiing, this is very well balanced.
An enjoyable run, no emotional or physical damage with this one, just a nice easy drinking tasty IPA.
