When I think of Moonstruck I think of a big hair Cher lighting up the screen in a role that seemed custom made for her*, with Dean Martin singing “When the moon hits your eye…”** in the background. Now that’s amore. Is it really acting if you play a spot-on version of yourself? I guess it is, because she scored the Oscar for that performance.
Fall is upon us and a big ol’ Muskoka harvest moon can both captivate and illuminate. Let’s see if this brew can live up to it’s moniker and light up my night.

A Magical Muskoka Moon
This new brew from Lake of Bays is a semi-dry dark lager which seems like a good match for a dark lager lover who is partially parched. A moonless midnight pour with a nice tan headliner. A classic Schwarz aroma of roasted malt and cocoa. A dreamy creamy pour, the words enticing and anticipation both come to mind. Entice-apation? The oh so creamy and dreamy pour was for show, as in it didn’t show up in the mouthfeel. Instead a smooth watery lager emerged. A great dark roasted malt with a bit of cocoa body and a slightly bitter finish. Faded sweet, bitter repeat. Unlike the Department of Morality, this beer is no longer sweet on me, but it is still a bit bitter. True to it’s descriptor it does have a semi-dry finish, with slightly crisp bitters instead of a more traditional cocoa sweet.
Not quite amore but I liked it a lot. Dark days are here again.
