Wrestling with The Crusher

The Crusher

Clifford Brewery Co.

4% Alcohol

Looks like The Crusher* is all fired up and ready to dominate the ring, doing sweaty holds and flips while decked out in his stretchy pants, in a choreographed ballet of blood.  Clifford’s Crusher looks more like a thirst crusher than a bone crusher. Maybe a summer suds sampling in the early winter? So be it. Most brews are anytime brews as far as I am concerned.

Golden bright and as clear as my conscience, well most likely clearer, probably much clearer. I guess that was a bad simile. Minimal head and gone as quick as this beer will be.** A mild malt aroma, light and fresh. A steady middlin’ malt flavour, a traditional light lager with a bit of fizzness in the business. The fizz faded, leaving a malt mild easy drinking definitely light but still good flavour lager. No hops, bitters, bite, fruit, or aftertaste. A back-to-basics light beer. And there it was, gone. I’m not wrestling with this one, it’s a crushable crusher.

*Editor’s Comments: Although he looked nothing like the behemoth on the beer can, “The Crusher” was a real-life professional wrestler. Reginald Lisowski, aka The Crusher was active in the American Wrestling Association and the World Wrestling Federation from 1949 to 1989. He was dubbed as “the wrestler who made Milwaukee famous”, a play on the Schlitz beer ad campaign of the day.

**Editor’s Comment: Is that a sad attempt at a simile with foreshadowing. And that is an example of a rhetorical question, no question mark required.
