Wolfe wolfing down The Wolf?
Not just any wolf, this one is The Wolf. Of all the canis lupus in all the wild wolf habitats in all the world, this is the one. Should we call him Neo or is that too obvious an anagram?* Neo Wolf, not to be confused with Nero Wolfe. ** It seems my digressions know no bounds.
Not our first wolf at COMDB, we have wolfed down a few. Will this one recapture the canine conjuring magic of a Wizard Wolf, or respond to the call of the wild windswept Wolf? Maybe an East coast alumni of Wolfville? *** We have actually run into The Wolf before, at the 5th COMDB AGM (Annual Golf Meeting), but I figured it was time to give this one a semi-sober, if not sobering, review.
I thought quaffing a brew from Edmonton brewer Sea Change while watching the Edmonton Elks defeat their arch rival Stampeders would be apropos. As far as Edmonton goes, Connor tells us this year is the year, they’re going for the cup and we ain’t talking golf. One can hope.

Underdog Elks stomp Stampeders.
As advertised, a hazy pour, bright golden. A nice fresh aroma, a touch of fruit and malt on the nose. The first taste is a nice citrus tropical fruit malt with a dry bitters finish, so far so tasty. Now the malt and fruit are mixing for a dank pale, I would have preferred them to stay in sequence. The fruit is still hanging in there, it is an interesting and different take on a pale, unfortunately there are no points for creativity.
Sea Change tell us this brew is “kind of like the friendly neighbourhood Goth”. I’m not sure what that means, or what neighbourhood they live in. And I’m one and done, a lone wolf for me tonight.
