Meep-Morp, Yummo, Squishy and Gloop. The Flying Monkeys IPA box set. Meep-Morp was hyper-hyphenated and flying high. Yummo was a citrus punch in the face and made a crash landing. Gloop? A Breakfast IPA? With “Natural tutti-frutti flavour”. What exactly is tutti-frutti you’re wondering, other than an example of the complete disregard for proper spelling in our current educational system.* Shouldn’t this be a dessert rather than a breakfast beer? Maybe it’s a breakfast and dessert beer? I seem to remember Johnny having one for breakfast and it was so good he had another for dessert.**
Regardless of when this brew is served, it does present a pretty pour. A golden peach with a bright white frosting on top. It does look more like dessert than breakfast to me. Sweet and fruity on the nose, smells like what I assume a candy factory smells like. Over 19 candy, not the type you hand out Halloween night.
The taste is sweet stone fruit, lots of fizz and some malt in the background. The finish at the start is a busy buzzy fizz. The fizz fades as fizzes tend to do. What remains is sweet fruits, definitely some peach in there, and citrus too. Mild malt and mild hops as well. A very slight bitter finish. It does taste tutti-frutti.
You know what they say, candy is dandy but liquor is quicker. Hey, I’m a poet and I didn’t realize it. Didn’t recognize it. Wasn’t aware of my ability to rhyme. Whatever.***
Sweet, different but tasty, I don’t think this would appeal to too many, but I enjoyed it.
