Trois Lacs out of Montréal has brewed a bonne fête bière for la Famille Viau on their 50th anniversary in business. Coincidentally, myself and the Department of Ultimate Patience and Virtue (the missus) have our 40th anniversary today. Sounds like it’s bonne fêtes all around!
If you can’t conceive of such an accomplishment as a 40 year millstone milestone, you should check out the COMDB Marriage Survival Guide. There you will find some unhelpful hints and questionable advice on marital concord, or discord, as the case may be.
Taking the way back machine to 1975 and that year I added Physical Graffiti, Born to Run, Wish You Were Here, Night at the Opera, Toys in the Attic, Welcome to my Nightmare, Face the Music, Hair of the Dog, Alive!, Fool for the City, Fandango, and Sabotage to my album collection to name a few. * A banner year for Rock & Roll. Can this Trois Lacs celebration libation live up to those high standards? One can hope.
A golden 50th anniversary pour,** with a nice foamy white bonne fête tête. A bit bubbly with a full head of steam. And it is quite clearly clear, as opposed to hazy. A great tropical juicy aroma, some hops in there too. First taste is juice hops bitters all coming at you at once almost (but not quite) overwhelming, then leading into a flat bitter finish. As progress is made the juice stays while hoppy bitters mellow a bit making for a refreshing sequence of events. I had a hard work thirst, and this 7% solution that took care of it. The more I drink it, the more I like it.
La 1975, it was a very good year, and is a very good beer.
