Mr. Canoehead to the rescue!
Our cottage country brew tour of the Muskokas was an epic hike through the wind-swept pines with a mandatory visit to the largest beer spa in the world. Calabogie is calling us up for a more Eastern Ontario cottage country quest from Algonquin Park down the Madawaska River to Lake Calabogie then on to shoot some Ottawa River rapids. * Too much paddling and portaging for me, sounds like a job for Mr. Canoehead. **
If I had a dollar for every cottage country beer I’ve sampled I would take all that money to the beer store and buy some more beer. How much beer I’m not sure, I would have had to kept count of how many cottage country beers I’ve had, which I didn’t. It’s a moot point. ** Let’s just say there are a lot of them out there.
This particular one pours light golden and slightly hazy. A nice white head to start with that was a bit camera shy. A surprising aroma of citrus fruit and fizz, it has personality. First taste is not fizzy but is certainly fruity, a citrus tropical thing happening. Couple that with quite a dry finish with a touch of floral and no hops or bitters. Kinda a sprite like taste, hot weather dockside refreshing.
We have enjoyed a few Calabogie crafts in our day. This one is a unique wheat treat.
