Adding a Four Ways Collective Arts can to my extensive art collection*. Cultured and classy I know, but that’s just how we roll here at COMDB. The art on the can is by Bhavatosh Dhavale from India
If you thought that Mosaic Four Ways referred to an intersection in Madaba** you would be surprisingly knowledgeable regarding Middle East trivia and incorrect. According to CA, they decided to see how many different Mosaic hops they could cram into one beer. The 4 hops being T90, Cyro, Incognito and Spectrum. I am sure right now you are saying “T90 is a good base, but what are those wild and crazy CA brewers doing combining it with Cyro and Incognito! And to top it off with Spectrum, that’s insane.” Right, my thoughts exactly. Well only one way to find out what the fuss is all about, you have to pour it to score it.
It pours a cloudy subdued mango grapefruit orange with a bright white head that disappeared quicker than a campaign promise. It has a hoppy tart aroma, looks like a Hazy IPA, smells like a Juicy IPA.
First swig is fruit (tropical) and funky (guava?) with a slight tart finish. The fruit is competing a bit with some malt or guava giving it a funky added flavour, the word complex comes to mind. It is evolving with a bit of backend bitter showing up. The hops are arm wrestling with each other and the confusing malt guava funk is fading. What is showing up is a bit of a bite and it is becoming a more traditional IPA, but I would say a Juicy IPA. It is a Hazy, Juicy, Complex and Traditional IPA. Four ways after all.
