Maybe not the perfect match.
A vintage match to light the fire? A union walkout at a gemstone mine? Or a red-headed centre for a soccer team? We aren’t quite sure what a ruby striker is, or does, but when it comes to this Collective Arts limited release (IPA No.32) Double with grapefruit it appears there is some ruby red involved. Not our first grapefruit foray. There was the lady with a face like half a grapefruit from Pamplemousse on the Loose. And one of our favourite beer names, Illiterate Librarians. Both were big time grapefruit IPA super suds scorers.
This CA brew pours thick as a brick. OJ with extra pulp. A practically perfect white foamy head, as thick as the brew. A sweet ruby red grapefruit nose. First quaff, wow that’s grapefruity, with… you guessed it, grapefruit bitters. It is every bit a double too or is that two? A very full mouthfeel, this brew just took care of my Vitamin C intake requirements for the week! Grapefruit², I guess that makes it a double. *
The bitters fade a bit and merge with the super juicy body. It is super juicy but with a bit of a backend grapefruit bitter bite to remind me it’s a double.
I quite enjoyed, one could say appreciated, this almost over the top ruby red grapefruit double extravaganza.
