The Green Hit? That would be “Let’s Stay Together”, Al Green’s 1972 first and only #1 song. Or maybe it’s a hole at a COM 18-hole golf tourney, the one green hit in regulation? Upon closer inspection it appears that our church-based brewer are practicing Rastafarians, I’m reefer-ing to some good old Pineapple Express. That’s right, some dank in the tank, a modicum of Mary Jane in the mix, getting together for a drink with Herb and Al. According to Silversmith, and I quote “It is dosed with Pineapple Express cannabis terpenes but contains no THC or CBD.”
They say no THC but after a few swigs I had an uncontrollable desire to add irrelevant emojis to my text messages. Fonger took some offense to me enjoying more than one vice at a time. He texted “Double dipping not allowed”, with an emoji of course.
Well, to be blunt it’s high time I reviewed this Jolly Green giant and sparked up this bud brew.*
I was not yet under the influence when I gazed with awe over a truly exquisite pour. A beauty to behold and to hold. I observed with a gasp a thick and hazy OJ with pulp body, topped by a fluffy puff of bright white smoke. After taking it all in I finally exhaled.
A nice pineapple fruit aroma that wasn’t hoppy, more like creamy on the nose. First taste was tropical juice with some subtle malt followed by bitters all nicely balanced. I say balanced but the tropical pineapple dosed juice was definitely the main attraction, with the malt and hoppy bitters on the finish in a supporting role, but all in the right proportions. A full mouthfeel, not quite creamy but certainly dreamy.
The Green Hit is another Ecclesia Series offering from the church, and well worthy of our praise. **
