From a teeter totter to hop scotch, * but it’s not all fun and games at COMDB. It’s time for some serious Scottish suds sampling as we make an armchair journey from the Great Lakes to one of the great lochs, Loch Lomond.
We’ve had the pleasure of pouring and scoring a number of Scottish brews. A Brew Dog with heart, a bitter and twisted Harviestoun, a Windswept wolf at the door, and a Tennent’s super Scot, to name a few. All bonny brews for sure. Can Loch Lomond Brewery live up to those high standards? Time to pop the top on this Bravehop.**
A dark deep golden shade of pale, with a bright white tam topper. A fresh and hoppy aroma, some fruit in waiting. The first taste is very stone fruit fruity as in puree fruity sweet. With a touch of hops and a smidgen of bitters, fruit forward. not balanced. My first impression is that this brew is trying too hard, take a breath, settle down, that’s the ticket. Second swig not balanced yet but not far off. The fruit started to step back a bit and the hops came into their own. And it all comes together with the fruit mellowing and hoppy bitters present and accounted for. Balance is not always required but for this brew it made for a nice, tasty IPA.
