Where is the forest? All I see are the trees.
The forest beckons. The well-groomed trails, the cute and curious woodland creatures, the scent of birch and pine. Who am I kidding. The armchair beckons, with a salty snack and a frosty cold one and a big screen hockey game. The only forest trail I’m going to tackle tonight is this hoppy American Pale Ale from Whitewater. And it smells a lot better than a swampy mosquito infested woodland that’s for sure.
February 1st and the shortest month of the year is the longest month of the year for JT. Why is that you may ask. Well, just like appointing a designated driver for a night of bar hopping, the COM have decided that since it is implausible, illogical and undesirable for all of us to participate in dry February, we needed a designated dry February driver. Enter JT, double fisted last night but taking 28 for the team this month. We might see a few 0% reviews in the near future.
Back to our whitewater woods and this pale pours pale, light and bright with a bright white head as well. A mild hoppy aroma, pleasant pine without the pine gum adherence and annoyance. The taste is fruit and hops with a crisp finish and a touch of pine bitters. A very tasty balance of fruit and fresh hops. Going down faster than a keg at a COM AGM.* Not the first time I’ve been told to take a hike,** but this is far more refreshing and enjoyable than foraging in the forest.
No blisters or bug bites on this walk in the woods, just a great American pale trail ale.
