Let the heeling begin.
The cure for Sober October? Just replace the “c” with a “k” and start festing. It’s Oktoberfest of course and a Festbier from Wellington no less. With Muskoka Oktoberfest just a few short days away I thought a bit of a warmup with a cold one was a good way to cool off in this unseasonal heat. My boot glass is usually a prop but I couldn’t resist drinking a Wellie from a Wellie now could I? If the shoe fits.
We have enjoyed a well-done Wellie or two in our day. Their Queen of Craft was certified royalty, their Upside had no downside, and their Special Pale Ale was something special. Originating from the most festive Oktoberfest region of Canada,* I had high hopes for this “get together in a glass” Festbier. Yes the bar was set high. But no matter how high the bar is, you can usually find a cranky old man there.
An essence of amber pour, my favourite fall colour. A fresh malt crisp autumn day aroma. It’s easy drinking malt with a bit of caramel and an ale like crisp finish. Well balanced and quite enjoyable. Just a touch less caramel than an amber ale, it was tasty from top to toe.
Yep, this is the cure, no Doctor’s visit or prescription necessary.
