“It just goes to show ya. It’s always something. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.”
According to Sawdust City this is the season of the Saison, and this beer is the Saison of the season. As in spring. They also feel there is no way of knowing what comes next so we might just as well seize the day and smell the roses, and expound other trite clichés that motivate us to make the most of what is the first day of the rest of our lives. There may well be no way of knowing, perhaps that’s what Donald Rumsfeld was trying to tell us about those unknown unknowns? * But what do I know? Another authority on the subject, Rosanne Roseannadanna reminded us that even though we may not know, you can be sure “It’s always something”.**
The picture on the can shows a single spring in his step celebratory (maybe celibate as well) unicorn cavorting in the springtime flowers and showers. There’s no way of knowing for sure, but we can assume this is just before Noah set sail. One thing we do know, If you’re single you don’t get a seat (or a stall?) on the Ark. ***
This spritely Saison started out with a fulsome froth, head springs eternal. Malt and citrus with spices, the aroma of a citrusy Saison. The taste is definitely lemon citrus and then they spice it up with pepper. Is pepper the seasoning of the season? It is a unique and quite tasty combo, it sounds strange but it all works in some sort of alternate universe of a lemon pepper loving world? .Consistent and balanced, a refreshing difference, You can’t really tell it’s a higher ABV.
Oddly enough not the first lemon pepper combo that I’ve tried. But it is the first one I enjoyed, and that I know.
