Wednesday Church Service … As If

Ugh...As If...

Silversmith Brewing Co.

4.7% Alcohol

High fashion circa 1995.

Usually the Department of Morality is dragging me to church, but this time the tables were turned. As in a patio table turned towards the sun near the bar of my favourite place of worship, a quaint vine covered church on main street Virgil. A pint of persuasion for me, a glass of the grapes of wrath for her, and we settled into some quality time together.. A Silversmith sunset scenario. I perused the menu and I totally paused when I saw an Ughh… As If…It sounded like the grandkid’s response to one of our wardrobe suggestions. They can’t decide whether I’m a fashion victim or ensemble challenged. I may be clueless about teenage fashion, but I know a thing or two when it comes to a brew.

Nobody ever accused The Blonde Ambition Tour of being pointless.

A solid muted orange pour, with a tap dance head, it’s a bar-ista pro pour. Subtle mango on the nose, and nothing else. The first taste is very juicy and smooth, a full mouthfeel with ever so slight ale bitters on the finish and a a mild bitter aftertaste. Delicious. Easy drinking and definitely big swiggable.  Mango lovers might find themselves having multiple big swigs and refills. Juicy and consistent start to finish.

It’s the blonde ambition brewer, and the choreographer has staged a mango tango for this church brew that’s going down like a prayer. **

Am I butt crazy in love with this beer? Love is a pretty strong word but let’s just say I’m totally buggin’ over this one. *

*Editor’s Comment: Silversmith has named this brew in honour of the 1995 teen classic movie Clueless. It was a modern take on the Jane Austen book Emma. The phrases in italics are just some of the iconic quotes from the movie, including the final rating.

**Editor’s Comment: Another tribute to the 90’s. Madonna’s 1990 Blonde Ambition tour was embroiled in controversy, some of which was driven by her stage antics during the performance of the song Like a Prayer.

Final Rating: Some Beers Just Aren’t Lucky Enough to be as Naturally Adorable as This One at 16 out of 20.
