Last night me and Bob* were “Workin’ on a Light Moves, Trying some Flying Monkeys brews, Workin’ on a Light Moves.”  Just to be clear, Seger was on the turntable, not here in person, and as far as drinking goes I think he’s been dry since 2019, which coincidentally was when we saw him on his farewell tour. At 74 years young he still filled the seats and rocked the house.

One of the first 45’s I ever got was Seger’s first single, the 1969 song Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man. The old man actually bought it thinking it was a Johnny Cash tune but after playing it once he cursed Elvis and rock n’ roll under his breath and threw it away. **

Time to check out the FM station and see if Light Moves is a chart topper.

A light golden pour with a nice white head, nothing light looking about this small IPA. It has a mild tropical juicy aroma. The first taste is watery light with a mild but tasty stone fruit  juice and very mild hops touch of fizz for a light crisp finish. This one is all about refreshing.  A great big refreshing swig was followed by another just to validate its big swiginess (and because I was thirsty).

Light IPA’s have been hit and miss with me, but this one is a hit.*** Well done FM, these Light Moves are worthy of a super suds Seger singalong.

*Editor’s Comment: It wasn’t until 7 years after his first top 40 tune that Seger had his second hit with the 1976 song “Night Moves”. Although Seger had many hits, his only number 1 was “Shakedown” from the soundtrack to Beverly Hills Cop II, which also earned an Oscar nomination.

**Editor’s Comment: In his 1964 cover of the Lead Belly Ledbetter song “Goodnight Irene”, Johnny Cash’s uses the phrase "Stop your ramblin', stop your gamblin". Bob Seger’s 1969 break out hit was Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.

***Editor’s Comment: Of the previous four Light IPAs reviewed the ratings have ranged from 9 to 16.

Final Rating: Bob Would Approve at 16 out of 20
