Simon Says “stand on one leg”.
Standing around on one leg all in pink sounds a little Daft to me, as in Daft Brewing, our favourite flamingo adorned brewer. In our review of Cool Cool Cool we went through fun flamingo facts one through four. Time for fun flamingo fact number five. Flamingoes stand on one leg because they often play Simon Says and standing on one leg for some unknown reason became the favourite Simon Says command in the flamingo world.*
Time to keep it real, or as real as it gets when we sample the sour of the hour. Daft’s peach and vanilla sour sounds intriguing, beguiling and appealing, all at the same time and in the same sentence. I love me a fresh picked peach, in a cobbler, in a pie, and occasionally in my beer. As for the other half of this equation, we have sampled vanilla Valhalla and vanilla hell, and ne’er the twain shall meet. The not so secret to success when it comes to vanilla in beer is the KISS principle. Keep it subtle sudsmaster.
What a brew pic! Definitely vying for the COMDB brew pic of the year award, this one. All pretty in pink, John Hughes eat your heart out.** A super hazy dank orange pour with a creamy bright white frosting. A sour disposition on the nose, not a peachy aroma as its name would suggest, mild citrus and definitely tart. The taste is mild citrus peachy, a creamy mouthfeel with very subtle vanilla and a tart pucker up finish. The peach is present but not pronounced or overpowering. The vanilla adheres to the forementioned KISS principle. It has a balanced peach vanilla body with tart sour finish.
A bit of a bigger swig but not a BIG swig (BIG swigs not recommended with sours) has the vanilla making its presence known, but still subtle enough to be in a supporting role.
A tasty sour. Here’s another fun flamingo fact, Peachy is just peachy.
